A gentle approach to consistency...

Being Human While Running a Business
We have seasons in life and in business. Some seasons are bright and sunshiney - where things flow easily, and some seasons are darker - which makes showing up harder.
If you find that your marketing has felt a but inconsistent recently, you're not alone. Life doesn't stop while we focus on our business - we still have to look after our homes, our loved ones, our health and wellbeing and/ or our other work committments.
All of these things take time and space, so something's inevitably got to give.
This isn't failure - this is riding out the season.
The 'Perfect Consistency' Myth
It's easy for a social media agency to post multiple times a day or week; however it can become overwhelming and unrealistic when you're running a small business, as well as the social media, accounting, admin, etc.
Consistency definitely matters but the way it's portrayed often doesn't allow for real-life moments. Nobody should be working 7 days a week (even if it's just replying to DMs).
Consistency is about returning - when you can - without the need to feel guilty or apologise for your absense. It's honouring that you CAN'T and SHOULDN'T HAVE TO show up the same way in every season of your business or life.
Sometimes Life Demands More of You
There will be times when your attention needs to be focused on:
being more present for your family
supporting a loved one
holding a family together
managing paid work alongside your small business
In those moments, your business doesn't disappear - it waits. And an aligned and supportive audience will wait too.

A Gentle Approach to Consistency
I believe that showing up can sometimes look like:
• being honest when you do show up after a break
• creating content that reflects your reality (without having to overshare your life)
• choosing to be sustainable with your energy and efforts
• knowing that quieter moments won't completely eradicate any impact you've made
You don't lose momentum from pausing, you lose momentum from burning out and not being able to start again.
How to Stay Present in the Harder Seasons
Less is enough. One post, email, story, moment of connection.
Share what you can. It can just be a small acknowledgement to keep the trust.
Create an anchor. Focus on a monthly theme instead of daily content.
Returning Back without Guilt or Apology
You don't need to disclose all of what has happened or justify your pauses to prove your worth. A simple - 'hello, I'm back, thank you for staying with me' is enough.

An Invitation
If you're building a small business alongside your life and work - you're doing a whole lot better than you think.
This year, my intention is to share marketing tips that feel human, kind and aligned with my values but also support what is happening in our lives. If this resonates with you, you're welcome to join me on that path.
Sometimes the most aligned thing that you can do for your business is to slow down.
